30-day visa exemption (new rule, effective 15 Sep 2026)
Following a Thai Cabinet decision (14 July 2026), Indian ordinary passport holders get a 30-day visa exemption for tourism, effective 15 September 2026 — replacing the earlier 60-day exemption that was withdrawn. For stays longer than 30 days, apply in advance for a tourist e-visa (up to 60 days) at the official portal.
- Complete the mandatory Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online at tdac.immigration.go.th within 3 days (72 hours) before arrival — required of every non-Thai national, no fee
- For visits over 30 days, apply in advance for a tourist e-visa at thaievisa.go.th (processing about 3-14 working days)
- Carry a passport valid 6+ months and proof of onward/return travel and accommodation, as e-visa applications require these documents
This 30-day exemption only started 6 days before today's date (2026-09-21) and replaces a since-withdrawn 60-day exemption that Indians briefly had from 2024. Reconfirm at newdelhi.thaiembassy.org before publishing, since Thailand's rules for India have changed twice in 2026.
