How a Hong Kong and Macau trip gets planned
Free pre-arrival registration (HK) + visa-free entry (Macau)
Hong Kong SAR: Indian passport holders must complete Hong Kong's free online Pre-Arrival Registration (PAR) before travelling in order to enter visa-free. Each registration allows stays of up to 14 days per visit and is valid for multiple visits over 6 months. Longer stays require a separate visa from the Immigration Department. Macau SAR: India is commonly listed among the nationalities exempt from a visa for short tourist visits to Macau, for up to 30 days, provided the passport is valid for at least 6 months from arrival. The official Macao Government Tourism Office page confirms a general visa-exemption policy but does not itself name India explicitly.
- Hong Kong SAR: Complete the free Pre-Arrival Registration online before booking or boarding — travellers cannot fly to Hong Kong without an approved PAR
- Hong Kong SAR: Registration is valid 6 months for multiple visits, but each stay is capped at 14 days
- Macau SAR: Carry a passport valid at least 6 months beyond arrival with a blank page for entry stamps
- Macau SAR: Carry proof of onward/return travel; funds proof (often cited around MOP 5,000) may be requested at immigration
Hong Kong's requirement (free PAR, 14 days) is directly confirmed on the official immd.gov.hk page. Macau's visa-exempt status for India specifically was not directly named on the official Macao Government Tourism Office page in this session (it only describes the exemption mechanism); it is corroborated by multiple consistent secondary sources. I had been to Hongkong Macau last week. Hotels and transports were on time. Suman from travelbook helped me intially to finalise the itenerary. Improvement I would suggest is from the local agency. They are bit slow in responding when asked for restaurants or shopping suggestions. Also they are not much welcoming to tourists and won't oblige for a 5min stop to buy a sim card once you land.
